University College Dublin, also known as University College Dublin (UCD or UC Dublin), is a public research university located in Dublin, the capital of Ireland.
UCD is not only the top university in Ireland, but also a prestigious university in Europe. With more than 1,914 faculty and 38,417 students, University College Dublin is the largest university in Ireland. In addition, several Irish prime ministers or senior European officials, and an Indian president have graduated from University College Dublin.
The school was founded in 1854 by John Henry Newman as its first president, and was renamed National University College Dublin in 1997. University College Dublin is a member of the World University Alliance, Universitas 21, the Global Alliance of Universities and the European University Association. University College Dublin is one of the four members of the National University System of Ireland.
