School Overview
The school was founded in 1843 as the Coventry Design School, in 1970 with the Lanchester School of Technology and Rugby Engineering and Technical School amalgamated renamed Lanchester Institute of Technology, in 1987 renamed Coventry Institute of Technology, in 1992 according to the Further Education and Higher Education Act to give it university status, renamed Coventry University. The London campus was established in 2010 and awarded the Teaching Excellence Framework Gold Medal in 2017.
Coventry University is best known for its fields of design, such as industrial design and production design. In transportation design, students learn how to design cars, boats, bicycles, trains, and planes. In addition, Coventry University's other well-known fields are art and design, such as media, production, theater performance. Art and design in Coventry University has a history of 150 years, the initial starting point was in 1843, when Coventry University was only art and design.
